About Us

Happy Day's Playgroup aims to create a happy, caring and creative environment for children from two years to school age.

We encourage the settle into playgroup life and enjoy many activities and educational skills, which, along with our close link with local primary schools, help prepare them for more formal education in their school years. We are committed to providing and maintaining traditional values in a pleasant and stable environment.

Happy Day's Playgroup

  • Is open for 38 weeks a year during term from 8:40am-2:40pm every day. (However, please note that the play group is currently operating at the reduced hours of - 8:40am-12:40pm) Children can attend for mornings, lunch club, afternoons or all day at the cost of £4.50 an hour. 
  • Nursery Education Funding for 3-4 year olds for 38 weeks, if a child attends more than one setting and requires more than the allocated 15 hours the hourly rate is £4.50. A birth certificate and signed 'parent's statement of undertaking' form are required.
  • Safety and security of children is our prime concern.
  • Is regularly inspected by OFSTED
  • Has an inclusive policy to ensure all children can be included in the setting irrespective of any disability, learning or development delays or ethnicity.
  • Wheelchair friendly and fully accessible via ramps.
  • Follows curriculum guidelines for the education of under fives, as published by the EYFS.
  • Has all staff fully qualified in childcare and first aid.
  • Monitors each child's individual progress  in their own 'Learning Journeys' which is available to parents.
  • Has outdoor play and learning at all times of the year.

Comments from the OFSTED inspection team;

  • Children are happy and very well cared for and supervised.
  • Safety, risk assessment and safeguarding procedures are exemplary.
  • Good learning is promoted through good teaching.
  • Children's personal, social and emotional development is a particular strength, well above the expected level.
