Support and Guidance

Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre offers high levels of support and guidance to all its community. Students, parents and carers should feel confident that the following expectations will be fulfilled.

Prior to arrival students can expect:

  • Visits from Academy staff to their Primary School.
  • A range of Year 6 curriculum/enrichment links with the Academy.
  • A well organised and confidence building two day induction for Year 6 students.

Once at the Academy students can expect:

  • A fixed point of contact for them to share concerns.
  • Clear guidance on a range of health/welfare issues.
  • Regular updates and discussion about their academic progress with well-defined, challenging targets.
  • An inclusive support structure to accommodate any special needs or disabilities.
  • Access to a wide range of agency support from the wider community.
  • Individual learning advice where appropriate.
  • Specialist input and advice for choosing courses during Year 9 and 11.
  • Regular input on Careers/Further and Higher Education options.

Over the five to seven years involved with us, parents and carers can expect:

  • A culture which encourages personal contact and consultation.
  • Swift response to any questions or concerns.
  • Access to senior staff to discuss more significant issues.
  • A Student Support Service that meets the needs of your son/daughter.
  • A Special Needs and Disability provision driven by inclusion and achievement.
  • An efficient messaging service distributing both routine and emergency information.
  • Regular updates on learning progress through termly Assessment Reports.
  • Consultation briefings on both individual progress and wider Academy information.
