At HAJC6 we offer a free counselling service as an intervention to help support our young people through any emotional issues they may be facing. If you feel your son or daughter is struggling to cope and you are seeking professional support then please email the school or their Pastoral Leader in the first instance. We do have a short waiting list so we can not guarantee an immediate start, but we have increased the number of counsellors to three from September 2018 to help minimise the waiting list.
Our counselling provision involves a person centred approach of working which means our counsellors will help our young people to explore any issues brought to therapy including thoughts, feelings and behaviour. This will enable students to think of positive ways to move forward and to find better coping strategies for the future. This service does not offer specific advice or guidance, it’s about empowering the students to find their own answers. To further support our students, we also offer group mediation sessions and anxiety support workshops.
If you require information on any of our support services, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
