At Hinckley Academy we will make every effort to ensure that the transition from the primary to secondary phase is handled sensitively and that students will arrive in September already feeling a sense of belonging and trust in their chosen Academy.
In addition to our Open Day/Evening, we will develop learning relationships with our four major feeder primary schools throughout the year, with the opportunity for further visits. Prior to transfer, all students will be seen in their own school by key staff from the Academy and useful information on how to ensure a successful transfer will be shared.
In July the new year group will spend two days with us and have the opportunity to settle into the new Year 7 base and fully explore and experience the superb facilities we have on offer. These include sports hall, floodlit astroturf, gymnasium, swimming pool, dance studio and fully equipped design, technology and science blocks.
We aim to ensure that all our Lower School learners feel valued and are proud to be a part of our community. Our new year 7 students enjoy the atmosphere of our welcoming Lower School base and quickly settle into the routines of Academy life. 'The Cube', a flexible learning area and dining space, is a colourful focus for them as they establish routines.
From the outset we work closely with families to ensure a successful transition and recognise that a productive partnership with parents and carers is a key ingredient in students achieving their potential.
